Hope was given to millions of & # 39; those who suffer from acne as a new study suggests that the condition can & # 39; is genetic.
In the first trial of its kind, researchers analyzed the DNA of & # 39; more than 26 700 people – including thousands against severe acne.

Consultant dermatologist Professor Jonathan Barker and colleagues analyzed the DNA of & # 39; 26 772 people, of whom 5602 had acne.
The researchers found variants related to acne in & # 39; 15 genetic place, of which 12 have not been previously identified.

The study was a collaboration between the group of Professor Barker and Medical Genomics Group Professor Michael Simpson at King & # 39; s College London.
Professor Simpson added: "A number of & # 39; genetic variants show interesting devices that can be really good targets for new drugs or treatments that really help patients."
The researchers emphasize that there are additional genetic variants related to & # 39; acne that have not been discovered.
