Latest data: The trend seems to have gotten worse


From Monday to Wednesday this week, more than a thousand new cases of infections were confirmed every day.

On Wednesday, 5,366 PCR tests and 23,586 rapid tests were performed. 1,081 cases of infection were confirmed, twelve percent more than last week. The share of positive PCR tests is again higher than 20 percent, more accurately 20.1 percent.

The new estimated number of active cases is 11,578 and is slightly higher than the previous day when it was 11,513. According to the NIJZ, the seven-day average of confirmed cases is 811, and the number of confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the last 14 days is 546.

For comparison – last Wednesday, 968 cases of infection were confirmed by 5,339 PCR tests. The share of positive PCR tests was 18.1 percent.

The first three days of this week confirmed more cases than the first three days of last week. Compared to the previous week, the number of new cases rose to over 1,000 all three days this week. In the last month, many new cases were confirmed on Tuesday. Most notably on 13 September, when 1,388 new cases of infection were confirmed by PCR tests.

The situation in hospitals is slightly better. More people with covid-19 were released from hospitals yesterday than admitted. Hospital treatment is currently required by 406 patients with covid-19, of whom 117 are hospitalized in intensive care. Four people died with Covid-19, bringing the total death toll to 4,627.

A declining trend in the number of vaccinations is visible. This week, 15,975 vaccinations were performed Monday through Wednesday, and 19,732 in the first three days of last week. According to the latest data available on, 54.2 percent of the population is vaccinated with a single dose, and 50 percent with all doses.
